DODGEBALL RULES

  • Any unnecessary roughness during the game will not be tolerated and may lead to the player or teams' expulsion. WE ARE HERE TO HAVE FUN AND NOT TO HURT ONE ANOTHER.
  • Teams will be made of 6 - 10 players.
  • Each match will not exceed 10 minutes. At the end of regulation the team with the most players remaining receive the win. If at the end of regulation, it results in a tie then a 2 minute sudden death takes affect. Eliminated players do not reenter during sudden death. If your team in completely eliminated from play, your done
  • At the start of the game, 5 standard sized dodgeballs will be place in the middle of the court. Each team will start on their stomachs. When the whistle blows, both teams will rush to the middle of the court to get as many balls on their side of the court as possible. Once all balls have been knocked from one side or the other, another whistle will be blown to signal the offical start of the game.
NOTE: Do not start throwing balls until the 2nd whistle is blown
  • Head shots are not allowed, A player hit in the head is not out but the person who threw it is, but can return on a caught ball later in play.
  • You're eliminated or can eliminate others by

* hitting them with the ball (minus the head shots)

* catching a ball thrown by an opposing player on the fly or on a deflection off another teammate

* dropping a held ball after trying to block an incoming ball with it -  held ball must hit the ground

* or crossing the center line

* Delay of Game (throw the ball before 30 seconds is up)

  • You can use your own held ball to deflect the incoming balls however if you drop the held ball, you're out.
  • You can only retrieve balls on your side of the court, but may leave your side to retrieve a loose ball that has gone else where, however it must be parallel to your playing area. CANNOT CROSS THE CENTER LINE.
  • Any ball hitting the ground prior to hitting a player is considered a dead ball.
  • A ball is live until caught, or hits an object other than a player
  • Eliminated players may reenter the game when

* a new game starts or

* if a throw from the opposing team is caught by a fellow teammate; returns all players to the game.

  • Rules will be enforced primarily by the "honor system". Players will be expected to rule whether or not a hit was legal or whether they were legally eliminated.
  • All matches will be supervised by a Field Monitor.  The Field Monitor's responsibility will be to rule on any situation in which teams cannot agree.  THE FIELD MONITOR'S DECISION IS FINAL - NO EXCEPTIONS!
